Pre-covid, we arranged connection works and meter installation for a new 350 apartment development. Due to funding issues the site passed through a number of developers before it was completed by the building arm of Rothschilds Bank.
The Challenge
Out of the blue, a £175,000 bill landed at the accountants of the owner of an adjacent derelict piece of land who had absolutely no ties to the development. Luckily, he was a friend of our Director.
Our Solution
Thus ensued lengthy attempts to reason with the Energy Supplier where Land Reg Documents, Meter Position Maps etc were shared and dismissed all while the alleged debt was aggressively chased resulting in us taking the case to the ombudsman.
The Result
12 months later and happy to report that the customer has just received a final bill with a zero balance but with instructions to 'settle immediately'.
