You will be presented with two sets of readings for this type of meter as below -

Record both sets of readings one for the “LOW” rate and one for the “NORMAL” rate, taking the reads from left to right ignoring the final digit in red.

The meter reading for this example would be -

LOW – 46043

NORMAL - 32436

How to Read a standard Digital Meter

Digital meters have a push button located next to the display, when pushed the display will change. Different meters in different parts of the UK may have different cycle displays so the example below may not be correct for your meter but it will give you some idea.

  • 1 Push - Test Display
  • 2 Pushes - Current Time
  • 3 Pushes - Current Date
  • 4 Pushes - Rate 1
  • 5 Pushes - Rate 2
  • 6 Pushes - Rate 3
  • 7 Pushes - Rate 4
  • 8 Pushes - Rate 5
  • 9 Pushes - Rate 6
  • 10 Pushes - Total number of All Rates
